Areas of specialisation
The following four areas of specialisation are available:
Engineering Geodesy and Photogrammetry
The area of specialisation "Engineering Geodesy and Photogrammetry" focuses on the recording, modelling, analysis, and interpretation of spatial data; i.e. regarding the shape, position, orientation, movement and change of natural as well as man-made objects. Central themes are the various sensors, advanced data processing methods, and an introduction to intra- and interdisciplinary applications. More information
Space Geodesy and Navigation
“Space Geodesy and Navigation” deals with the measurement and observation of the earth and the environment. Using ground-based and satellite-based instruments, the geometry and the gravitational field and changes to them (deformation, displacements) are recorded, including the exact determination of positions and movements. Attention is focused on precision positioning and navigation, the latest global navigation satellite systems (GNSS), satellite earth observation, new satellite missions and the gravitational field. GIS and Cartography
In the specialization “GIS and Cartography” specialisation area, complex spatial data are analysed and innovative geoapplications developed. Central expertise in the processing of space-related data is taught and the areas of management, modelling, analysis, visual presentation, and interaction are covered. More information
Planning
The “Planning” specialisation area teaches how landscape and space can be planned and developed, taking into account ecological, social and economic aspects. Ideas and solutions are designed, planning decisions prepared and planning processes established. Both the formal planning system in Switzerland as well as informal methods and instruments are explored here. More information
