Heatwaves thawing Arctic permafrost

Satellite data affords D-BAUG researchers a new method for quantifying carbon mobilisation in Arctic permafrost. Their findings also reveal how summer heatwaves accelerate the rate of Arctic landslides in thawing permafrost. The study was developed by researchers around Irena Hajnsek, Professor Earth Observation and Remote Sensing at the Institute of Environmental Engineering (IfU).
ETH Medal for PhD theses

Every year, outstanding doctoral theses are recognized with the ETH Medal. In 2022, four young D-BAUG researchers were honored with this award. The medals are awarded during the Doctoral Awards Ceremony by Rector Günther Dissertori. Congratulations!
Kangaroo Goes Science @D-BAUG

100 schoolgirls visited ETH Zurich on the occasion of the Kangaroo Goes Science event on June 9. This year, for the first time, the event took place on the Hönggerberg Campus, where the young visitors gained deeper insight into natural and engineering sciences. D-BAUG also participated, offering hands-on activities at the Stocker lab, the laboratory for experimental research, and the Immersive Design Lab.
