Choosing this apprenticeship was the best Idea

Hi, my name is Jan. I am 17 years old and live in Zurich. In my free time I love to dance and watch scary movies. Ever since I had to choose which career I wanted to pursue, it was clear for me that I wanted to work in the field of natural sciences. It was quite challenging to switch from school to this apprenticeship.

I chose my apprenticeship at ETH because it holds so many different opportunities, provides me with good connections and a solid education. Currently, and for the whole year, I am working in the Claylab at the Institute for Geotechnics. At the moment I am trying to adapt to the very new environment and learning the basics (how to use certain measuring instruments and how things work out at the lab).

At the end of this year I will switch to another lab. After my apprenticeship I would like to study something in the field of Chemistry. I am not quite sure which degree I will be choosing because there are so many different interesting fields in Chemistry. I guess I still have some time to figure it out 😉
