Project Work
The project work offers the opportunity to specialise in subject-specific topics in applied form or to undertake research-orientated investigations. It encourages students' ability to work independently and with a structured approach and to work towards the Master's thesis.
The project work is written in the subject discipline in the selected specialisation and generally extends over the duration of a semester. It is supervised by a professor.
Repetition
Students can repeat an unsatisfactory project work only once. If it is repeated, then a new topic has to be adopted within the selected specialisation subject. The thesis can be repeated with a different professor to the one who supervised the first attempt.
Students cannot repeat a passed project work.
Breaking off the project work
The project work can only be breaked off in exceptional circumstances. An official written request stating the reason must be submitted to the Director of Study. There needs to be a compelling reason for abandoning the project work from the second half of the allotted time onwards, otherwise abandonment is impossible.
Assessment
The project work is graded with a mark. If it is written as a group piece of work, the performance of each member of the group is generally graded by the same mark.
Each chair in Environmental Engineering organizes the Project Work slightly differently. Please inform yourself about the procedure of the Project Work at the respective chair and get in touch with the responsible people at an early stage.
