The QS subject rankings, compiled by British analysts Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), take into account a number of indicators, with a strong emphasis on the university's reputation in academic circles and among employers. Other indicators include published studies by researchers in the field and their international network.

In Civil & Structural Engineering, ETH Zurich has steadily improved its position over the past five years – from 9th place (2021) to 7th (2022), then 5th (2023, 2024), and now a 2nd place (2025). Meanwhile, in Earth Sciences and Geophysics, ETH has maintained its top position for the fourth year in a row.

In the overall QS World University Rankings, ETH currently holds 7th place worldwide. Across disciplines, it ranks among the top 10 globally in 16 subjects, further consolidating its position as a leading institution in engineering and the natural sciences.

More details on ETH's overall ranking can be found in the ETH News on March 12, 2025.
