D-BAUG science video selected by Nature Awards
Congratulations to doctoral candidate Lucas Gobatti, whose 1-minute video was selected by Nature Awards to be featured in the “Science in Shorts” series! The video communicates the results of a paper on blue-green infrastructure planning to a lay audience in an engaging and funny way. The main message is that if we want to cool down our cities with vegetation, we need to start planting as soon as possible, because it takes time to get the full cooling benefits of urban greenery.
Lucas Gobatti is a doctoral candidate in Environmental Engineering at ETH Zürich and Eawag. His background is in Civil Engineering, Architecture and Urban Planning, and his research goal is to create tools that support urban planners in reducing the amount of people experiencing heat vulnerability. His supervisors are Professors João Leitão and Max Maurer.
"Science in Shorts" is a new, informal science communication challenge that aims to share cutting edge science with a wider audience through 1-minute videos that explain research in easily understood terms, therefore making it as accessible as possible. Selected videos can win a prize of 5000 Euros and will be featured on Nature’s YouTube channel.
