TAP general assembly: Julia Dannath as guest

Every two years, the administrative and technical staff at D-BAUG gather for their general assembly – after all the covid-related restrictions, this year’s assembly felt all the more special as it could take place as a physical meeting in the Bauhalle! Another highlight was the visit of guest speaker Julia Dannath, the new Vice President for Personnel Development and Leadership at ETH Zurich.

The TAP (Association of technical and administrative staff) plenary meeting at D-BAUG took place on 4 November 2021 and about 60 people were present. The joy of being able to meet in person was very palpable in the group and showing the certificate was routine for most.

The three current staff representatives Ruth Kläy, Martin Huber and Dominik Werne gave a brief overview of their tasks at TAP. These include, among other things, holding the semi-annual meetings with the department management, participating in the four annual department conferences, and organizing events for the TAP staff. The review showed that especially events – that is, opportunities to get to know each other better and to network – had fallen victim to the pandemic in the current term of office (11/2019-11/2021).

A major event for the entire department was the evaluation in March 2021. On this occasion, six TAP representatives had been invited to speak with the evaluators. All in all, TAP staff currently consists of 117 people, which shows the importance of this group at D-BAUG.

According to the statutes, the three staff representatives are elected for two years. Two of them – the technicians Dominik Werne and Martin Huber – stood for re-election, but not Ruth Kläy. Thus, there was a vacancy which should be filled again by a person working in the administration, but in the run-up to this general assembly no person could be found for this exciting office. Ruth Kläy therefore offered to serve as an interim, at the latest until the beginning of the fall semester 2022.

As a guest speaker, TAP had been able to win the new Vice President for Personnel Development and Leadership Julia Dannath, who
presented a talk titled "The working world of the future". The subsequent questions and the engaged discussion were signs of the interest of all participants in their workplace D-BAUG.

Afterwards, there was enough time for discussions at the stand-up lunch hosted by the department – which was praised by many participants.
