Entrepreneurship: Ueli Angst honored by students
The ETH Entrepreneur Club and the ETH AI Center recently launched the "Dandelion Entrepreneurship Award". The new award recognizes ETH professors who promote and facilitate talented people to take the leap into entrepreneurship. Nominations were made in the departments by students, doctoral candidates and postdoc researchers. D-BAUG professor Ueli Angst is among the first winners. Congratulations!
Ueli Angst is a specialist in corrosion and the durability of reinforced concrete structures. After obtaining his PhD from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim in 2011, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher and lecturer at ETH Zurich as well as a consultant in the private sector.
Since 2017, Angst has been an SNSF-funded professor at the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering (D-BAUG). He is the recipient of an ERC Starting Grant (2019) and co-founder of the ETH spin-off DuraMon, which develops special sensors for monitoring corrosion processes in concrete structures. Furthermore, his research group currently works on an SNSF/Innosuisse project to develop a new underground inspection technology device for retaining walls.
