Mobility and fire protection: New research initiatives
The ETH Executive Board has approved the establishment of the new Center for Sustainable Future Mobility and the purchase of a research furnace. D-BAUG will take a leading role in both initiatives.
The Center for Sustainable Future Mobility (CSFM) involves members from eight departments and is based at the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering and at the Departement of Mechanical and Process Engineering. The designated director for the first two years will be Kay Axhausen, D-BAUG Professor of Transport Planning. In terms of continuing education, the new competence center will collaborate with the likes of the MAS/CAS in Future Transport Systems.
Furthermore, the purchase of a research furnace was approved, at the request of Andrea Frangi, D-BAUG Professor for Timber Structures. The furnace serves the continuation of research activities in the field of fire protection engineering and will also be used in the new MAS in Fire Safety Engineering.
