Corona video diary from D-BAUG at ETH Zurich with Roman Stocker (29.4.2020)

Roman Stocker is a member of the "Swiss National COVID-19 Science Task Force”, which advises politicians and institutions in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. In this edition of the Corona-Video-diary from D-BAUG, he emphasises how important it is, that science has a seat at the table of the decision-makers, to bring the facts regarding this pandemic in the rapidly changing, complex landscape of evidence.

This is particularly relevant because political measures to overcome the pandemic often need to be taken pragmatically and rapidly, even when the scientific evidence is not yet fully conclusive. This tension between the conclusiveness of evidence and the importance of providing recommendations he finds a particularly challenging and fascinating aspect of his service in the Task Force, says environmental engineer Roman Stocker.
