Additional information
Julia Leuthold holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in civil engineering from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). She earned her PhD in 2020 at KIT's Institute for soil and rock mechanics, where she focused on the hydromechanical anisotropy of porous rock material and led the rock laboratory. After her dissertation she worked as a project leader in rock mechanics and tunneling at the National Cooperative for the Disposal of Radioactive Waste. In January 2025, Julia Leuthold joined ETH Zurich as an established researcher at the chair of Underground Construction and took on the role of head of the rock laboratory.
