Research area

Deepika Raghu's research focus is on digitalization of existing buildings to enable the reuse of materials. Her research investigates the following question: How can the obsolescence of the existing building stock be prevented using emerging digital technology available today? Deepika Raghu works with Big Data and Machine Learning methods to analyze existing buildings in various cities to arrive at solutions for retaining high-value materials for future use. Her research observes different contextual paradigms in the realm of circularity for the built environment in both developed and developing nations.

Deepika Raghu's interests lie at the intersection of architecture, technology and innovation to help transition towards a circular economy. She studied architecture at Siddaganga Institute of Technology (SIT), after which she obtained a Masters in Advanced Architecture at the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC). She works in the domain of circular design and brings creative, interdisciplinary thinking to projects that can bring about systemic change. At the Chair for Circular Engineeing for Architecture (CEA), Deepika Raghu is conducting research that can enable the digital transformation of the built environment by exploring novel methods to tackle the existing digital deficit and incentivize change.
